Overview

PlayStation's Product UX & Tooling department: UX and integration engineering for internal developer and operations tools, supporting the streaming, broadcast, test-infrastructure and network teams.

Achievement

Built the department on two pillars: a shared design system for the partner and web tools, and API alignment through the integration engineering squad, which grew into the infrastructure API mandate. I also created the product catalogue, regular review pages, platform program structure and role definitions.

Outcomes

  • ◆ Led the department from 2022; accountable product owner (business owner) of the internal tooling platform
  • ◆ Hired engineers and an engineering manager for Berlin and Aliso Viejo (from 2024)
  • ◆ Created the product catalogue and regular review pages, the platform program structure and architecture index, and role definitions
  • ◆ Took part in cross-functional engineering leadership coordination
  • ◆ Shifted external consultancy spend from a US vendor to Sony's India site — $300k USD saved in 2025
  • ◆ Helped move a research project (AI-based emotional voice synthesis) into production tooling as UI/UX and onboarding lead (2024)
  • ◆ Led a company-wide cross-functional collaboration workstream (2025): survey and interview evidence base, operating-model guidelines, executive sponsorship
  • ◆ Authored a multi-year collaboration vision for cross-organisational engineering work (documentation, focus time, clearer ownership)

Key Learning

Moving from managing delivery to designing an organisation: define product ownership, roadmap authority and hiring explicitly, and align a distributed department across Berlin and Aliso Viejo.
