Geil,Danke!

Since April 2011 I’m working on the foundation of Geil,Danke! Apps, Websites, Games, Magazines together with my partner Michaela Lehr. We are publishing magazines for the iPad and Android Tablets. Together with Axel Spinger Mediahouse Berlin we developed a tablet concept, interactive galleries and several HTML5 games for the world premiere of the Rolling Stone app.

Unity3D

I just gained experience with the game editor Unity3D in a workshop at the GamesCamp of HTW Berlin.

With the help of our trainer Stephan, we learn the basic principles in creating small, entertaining three-dimensional games with the software. In the practical workshop, we are shown how to create an environment, how our game character can be controlled and animated and how objects interact with each other.

We are also getting to know the scripting part of Unity to develop own game mechanics. The Framework is based on the programming language C# and offers many possibilities to customize your own world.

Lastly we study how to produce our games for the plattforms Windows and Mac OS as well as iOS for the iPhone.

Social Games proceedings at Seoul

Together with Prof. Dr. Bernd Viehweger, I took part in the international System Dynamics Conference in Seoul 2010. We presented a model of success factors for online social games (like Farmville), which can simulate expected player amounts dependent upon more than 250 parameters – from game design via marketing to technology.

Still in early development there is our prototype of a facebook game to empirically acknowledge the results we learned from the model.

Furthermore I wrote a session report about Forio‘s seminar of their newest ajax based online tool for building multiplayer management games.

Paploo.de

Paploo ist a german community and blog portal dedicated to the upcoming multiplayer game Star Wars: The Old Republic by BioWare. Together with Michaela Lehr, I host the site at www.paploo.de and provide news, opinions and merchandising tests to its ~30 daily visitors. The project is popularized through social media channels like facebook, twitter and YouTube using elementary viral methods.

My involvement:

  • market the site via facebook, twitter, YouTube and existing communities etc.
  • formulation of articles and tests
  • Podcast recording, post-production and release
  • use agile development process with basic Scrum methods
  • setup, maintenance and improve the site

Artificial Intelligence to increase energy efficiency

Under the german title “Künstliche Intelligenz zur Steigerung der Energie-Effizienz“, I published my first Diploma-Thesis as a book at VDM Verlag.

It is a feasibility study of how artifical intelligent process controls could increase energy efficiency in all-day commodities and the industry. Through agent based learning, digital assistants should be able to have a high chance to correctly forecast personal needs. Accordingly they can keep energy-consuming systems of all kind in resting states, to power them up only as necessary. The study makes suggestions on how such architectures should be modeled and which risks and chances exist.

By means of this work I reached the academical grade of Diplom-Wirtschaftsingenieur (FH) in Heidelberg and was able to attend my non consecutive Master course in Information System at Humboldt-University zu Berlin.
